Did you know, you don’t actually need to shampoo your hair? However, it is vital that you clean your scalp!
If your scalp is not regularly cleaned, oil builds up leading to an accumulation of dirt and bacteria. Leaving this combination of oil/dirt/bacteria on the delicate skin of your scalp for prolonged periods can cause sores, infection and hair loss.
A healthy scalp means healthy hair but cleaning your scalp correctly requires getting water and a cleaning agent through the hair and onto the scalp. The best way to do this is to work your fingertips through the hair and gently massage the scalp ensuring the entire scalp is cleansed and repeat if necessary. If you’re cleaning the scalp correctly the strands of hair will automatically be cleansed during the process so you should always focus on the scalp.
Thorough rinsing is essential after each shampoo to ensure you’re left with a nice clean scalp, be sure to lift long/thick hair up and away so that water can run through.
